Some feedback about "Conversations - Ramblings of a so-called Street Photographer
Thank you for the handouts which I will distribute to the club. I also wanted to thank you for a fantastic talk last night. Not only were the photographs wonderful but all the stories to go with them were interesting and thought provoking. Your enthusiasm also came over in abundance. L.A. Worcester
“It was fascinating and inspiring. Thanks to David”. "I watched the video and thoroughly enjoyed it. No technical waffle, just an acute eye for a good photograph and a genuine interest in his subjects. It was extremely thought provoking”. “Wonderfully enjoyable. Huge thanks”.
The work you do is very inspirational. It is a huge leveller of humanity, those who don't look like you, and dress differently, are still lovely human beings. We are all of the same family”. “I love the story of Rose trying to pair him off with her mother, brilliant. What really came across was that David is a people person, he is interested in people, if he were not a photographer, he would probably be a writer, about people”.
“Great human stories behind every image, thank you to all involved, Thank you to David for presenting his marvellous work!”

Just a short note to thank you for a wonderful presentation for Dublin Camera Club that I attended this week. Your people street photography is wonderful and the back stories are interesting and moving. Thanks also for the PDF notes. P.W. Dublin
I wanted to drop you an email and personally thank you for the highly inspirational session you gave to the Dublin Camera Club on Tuesday, I fell in love with so many of your pictures, from Sami to the girl with the wild candy floss pink hair. The ability to not only capture their personality but also share in a captivating storytelling manner was exceptional. As someone who has only bought themselves a camera for the purpose of street photography, it helped me see it through a whole new lens (pun intended), so thank you for that. R.G. Dublin
Your photos are so diverse, which makes them very interesting. I particularly like your approach to women (it’s possible I could phrase that a little better!). I mean, they’re the antithesis of the old “male gaze” stuff; they’re always strong, self-confident women, and that is so good to see. Any kind of art is bound to reflect the person making it. I find it all very intriguing. I.R. Hants
A fantastic and inspirational talk given with humility and candour. It changed the way I now interact with people, not just photographing them. It would be great to get him back to talk about the techniques he uses.
An absolutely superb presentation from someone who is not only a wonderful photographer but a very warm and genuine human being. Thank you so much David I have learned a lot, not just about photography but humanity. Two anonymous comments on Camversation.
Thanks again for your talk last night. I found it truly inspiring and want to rush out to start taking ‘street photos’ in Edinburgh. The acid test of a good photography talk is if it makes you want to pick up your camera and yours did exactly that. D.S. Scotland
I know you’ve heard from Helen and linked to the review, so you know how much we enjoyed your talk on Monday. It was everything I hoped it would be and more, I felt that you introduced all those people to us. P.P. Dorset
I really loved and appreciated your talk last night - so many images are sticking in my mind and keep coming back to me this morning. What I most felt about your photographs is the connections made and the humanity shared that culminates in the photograph, that comes across and out straight bang into the viewers eyes! As a viewer, you really do feel like you've seen something very personal and intimate about the person, something maybe even private that only eye contact can share. And what a great way to end a talk by…………………...I bloody loved that! N.S. Devon
David, a huge thanks for last night, the presentation went down a storm. Really enjoyed it, so entertaining and the quality was wonderful. It was great to hear the little side stories that went with most of the images. Also thank you so much on providing advice on how to approach people, very useful. P.R.
Thank you so much for your talk last night, I did not want it to end and so enjoyed looking all your photographs - they really showed the relationships that you had with the sitters and it was made even more fascinating to get the back story. L.M-G.
Hi David, many thanks for a thoroughly good evenings presentation. I have to say it was the best and most interesting Zoom meeting I have attended. If you have any left I would like to buy a copy of your book. D.H.
Thank you so much for this evening’s talk. It was as amazing insight into London street life. I love the way that you had a story to tell about each of the characters. I’m sure it wasn’t easy to get some of the photographs but the relationship you built with them must have been instrumental in being able to capture their personalities. I personally found it inspirational.
“I very much enjoyed your presentation last night. Street is not my metier, but your commentary and the descriptions of your subjects really brought the images alive. You have obviously devoted a lot of time and effort to getting to know the people and it has really paid off with some fabulous images. Thanks again”. W.J.
“Thank you for your wonderful talk last night. It went down very well, even with people (and there are quite a lot of them) who profess not to understand street photography. I must say I think you are quite brave to approach one or two of the tough guys who feature in your pictures, but they do make for some of the best images. That said, I imagine that you are now as much a part of Spitalfields life as many of the characters you photograph so perhaps you enjoy some kind of protected status! As you say, it’s all a long way from our comfortable, white, middle-class Surrey lives. They are great images - keep them coming!” M.J.
“I thought I would let you know how much I enjoyed yesterday evening. I don’t take people, so I wasn't expecting to be particularly enthusiastic about an evening of street photography. It turned out be a great evening. The difference was made by your in depth knowledge of almost all of your subjects which brought the photos to life. I loved it. Thank you for a great evening and for sharing your vast knowledge of Brick Lane (I used to go there in the 1960/70’s). Regards” R.D.
